One simple goal
DeMitis Donations is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with one simple goal: make sure every piece of donated clothing goes directly to people who need it — no resale, no middlemen.
When most people drop clothes in a donation bin, they picture a neighbor in need wearing them. The reality is often different — big collection operations like GreenDrop gather donations and resell them to thrift stores for profit, with the clothes (and the value) passing through several hands before any good gets done. We started DeMitis Donations to close that gap: we never sell your donations.
We collect gently used clothing across the West Chester area through free doorstep pickups and free scheduled drop-offs, then deliver it straight to local churches, shelters, and families. Our first stop is always the Dorothy Day Outreach Center at St. Agnes Parish here in West Chester; whatever they can't absorb goes to The Wardrobe in Kennett Square — a fellow nonprofit whose resale proceeds fund programs that clothe and empower people working toward employment and independence. That's the difference: with us, resale is never for profit, only overflow to a charitable mission. When there's a fit, we also support Safe Harbor Homeless Shelter and the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County.
Donating should be as easy as cleaning out your closet — so we made it exactly that easy.
