Our first priority is the Dorothy Day Outreach Center at St. Agnes Parish right here in West Chester — we donate everything we can there first. Clothing given to a local parish outreach center goes straight to neighbors in need — no resale, no warehouse, no middlemen. That's the whole point of donating directly.
The honest reality: St. Agnes can only absorb so much. They accept clothing seasonally, and their ongoing need is smaller than what our generous donors give. So nothing goes to waste…
Every item St. Agnes can't take goes to The Wardrobe (345 Scarlet Road, Kennett Square — formerly Career Wardrobe / Wings for Success), a nonprofit working to eliminate clothing insecurity, curb fashion waste, and empower people for success.
With roots back to 1995, The Wardrobe has helped more than 100,000 people overcome barriers to employment and independence — including people re-entering the community after incarceration, entering recovery, or stepping into adulthood.
Yes, The Wardrobe operates a resale store — so let's be clear about the difference. When a for-profit collector like GreenDrop resells your donations, the profit is the point. When The Wardrobe sells an item, every dollar funds nonprofit programs that clothe and empower people in need — and they accept anything, year-round, which keeps usable clothing out of the landfill when St. Agnes is at capacity. Our ideal is 100% direct donation; where that isn't possible, a fellow nonprofit beats a dumpster or a for-profit reseller every single time.
